Victoria & Albert Museum

V&A South Kensington is the world’s greatest museum of art and design with collections unrivalled in scope and diversity.

The V&A asked us to redesign the jewellery area of its museum shop. Our challenge lay in creating a new, inviting area for staff and customer interaction while retaining a bespoke, warm timber feel. We designed, built and fitted a counter area which is a warm blend of cherry veneer and glass. It displays the jewellery in the best light and creates an ambient, timeless shopping oasis.

Delighted with our work in their jewellery area, the V&A asked us to redesign and subtly modernise another museum shop area. We responded skilfully to the V&A’s request to gently introduce a contemporary, fresh feel to this environment, steeped as it is in antiquity and tradition.

We used modern materials, colours and designs to create units which complemented the existing traditional shop design, yet enhanced the V&A’s contemporary products displayed within them.

White Corian (a synthetic marble), steel and point lighting has produced a very clean, linear look, reflecting the modern art on sale and helping create a spacious, airy feel.
